Carver Innovation Center Guidlines

Everyone is welcome to use the Makerspace; however, Carver Innovation Center (CIC) customers must reserve use of specific tools/technology (3D printer, laser cutter, etc.) in advance. Reservations will be held for ten minutes. However, customers may stay longer if there is no demand for the equipment at the end of their time slot. Reservations can be made in person, by phone at 708-697-6250, or by sending an email to Make a Reservation

 

Makerspace customers ages 15 and older may use the Makerspace without adult supervision.
Makerspace customers ages 14 and younger must have a parent/guardian with them at all times.

 

To use the Makerspace, a customer must register at the Reception and must leave one of the following forms of identification and have a method of payment on file:

  • Driver's License
  • Passport
  • State or Military ID
  • School ID

 

Carver Innovation Center Hours

  • Monday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m
  • Tuesday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m
  • Thursday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 

*Workshops are typically held in the evenings and on Saturdays. However, if no workshops are scheduled, customers may schedule use of equipment by prior arrangement only.

 

The Carver Innovation Center will be locked when not in use

  • Tools and equipment are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Makerspace tools must be returned in the same condition in which they were received
  • CIC does not accept responsibility if a project is destroyed, does not print correctly or does not work
  • The Carver Innovation Center reserves the right to halt, delete, or disallow the creation of items that violate our policies, including the creation of weapons, pornography, or illegal items.
  • Only CIC computers may be connected to center’s equipment, i.e., the 3D printer, laser cutter, etc.
  • Projects must be approved by staff before the use of the 3D printers, laser cutter, etc. and all customers must complete either a safety orientation or a training class to use equipment independent of staff assistance
  • Water in covered containers or bottles is allowed in the Makerspace. Food is not allowed.
  • All equipment available in the Makerspace must stay within the center. It is the responsibility of the customer to delete and/or remove any files (digital or print) from the center equipment in the Makerspace. CIC is not responsible for equipment or files (digital or print) left behind by customers.
  • Center staff will provide assistance in using the equipment and software. All supplies, equipment, or furniture must remain in the Makerspace.
  • The co-working and makerspace user accepts financial responsibility for any and all damage caused to the building and/or equipment beyond normal wear. The cardholder will be responsible for any charge incurred by his or her group.
  • Customers must save their work on an external flash drive
